The sóller Valley. A world within Mallorca

Sóller is situated on Mallorca's northwest shore. It enjoys a privileged location in a fertile valley, looking out to the Mediterranean sea and with the impressive Tramuntana mountain range as a backdrop.

To the southwest and northeast its neighbours are, repectively, the picturesque villages of Deià and Fornalutx. The average yearly temperature is 18,7C, typical of a Mediterranean climate. Most of the year's rain usually falls during the Autum and in the month of February.

The extensions of Sóller's municipality runs to about 44km2. The present population is around 13,600 inhabitants, of whom some 2,000 are foreigners who have chosen this valley as their place of residence. In Sóller, like the rest of Mallorca, "Catalan" is spoken, although most people speak Spanish as well.

The distance to Palma, the Balearic capital, is approximately 24 kilometres, going via a toll tunnel through the "Coll" mountains. The old mountain road over the Coll is still in use. It extends the trip but offers impressive views of Mallorca.
